The OBHBA (Outer Banks Home Builders Association) held their 25th Annual Parade of Homes from October 5-8th this year. It is like no other tour you’ve ever experienced, with a diverse group of coastal homes along a 50+ mile stretch of the beautiful Outer Banks. If you haven’t attended a Parade of Homes event on the OBX yet, you’ll definitely need to put it on your list! Tickets are available in every parade home, directly from the OBHBA office or from any Gold or Silver sponsor. The $10 admission fee is good for all four days of the tour and proceeds benefit the local food pantry and other local charitable efforts.

We entered four homes in the Parade this year, and are proud to announce two of those homes won People’s Choice awards! Over 1,000 parade goers passed through our homes over the 4-day event, and considering during last year’s event we were expecting a hurricane, we were excited that this year brought great weather and a grand total of over 5,200 attendees! Here are SAGA Construction People’s Choice Winners

1713 Bay Drive, Kill Devil Hills

Coastal charm and contemporary elegance abound in this 3-bedroom, 3 ½-bath home. It includes a multi-purpose room and art studio as well. Entertaining is fun and easy with this functional design, as the dining room, kitchen and family room with screen porch create a flowing, open concept. At the heart of the home is the kitchen, which showcases a large island with modern design elements. The cozy master suite features two closets and a custom shower.

“Parade attendees really loved this home because they could envision themselves in it,” said Ellen Davis, Office Manager and team leader for the annual Parade of Homes event. From the new technology and lighting system, to the beautiful back porch it’s a very livable home in a lovely community. The attention to detail, layout, and functionality of this home made it a clear winner!

We are proud of the variety of homes we design in multiple communities in Manteo, Currituck and surrounding towns – many of which are very livable, affordable homes.

Happy Sol – 2221 South Virginia Dare Trail, Nags Head

The cheerful cedar shake exterior on this home reels in that old Nags Head charm. High-end finishes and attention to detail are evident in every inch of this 9-bedroom, 9-full and 2-half bathroom home with generous master suites, an integrated bunk suite, four covered porches, and a healthy dose of entertainment and recreation rooms throughout. Jaw-dropping oceanfront views are easily admired from the great room. The kitchen area boasts a sleek, white and stainless-steel kitchen and expansive dining area. Great for entertaining, this home offers a party plaza complete with covered deck, custom pool, peaceful water feature, kiddie pool, hot tub, tiki bar, firepit and private boardwalk. Not a detail was missed on this home; with views and charm to match!

Another exciting acknowledgement for SAGA, in addition to winning two “People’s Choice” awards, is that one of the kitchens in a home we designed was chosen for the cover of the Parade of Homes magazine!

Lastly, we would like to thank our vendors and staff for helping us earn these awards. Our team is what makes us successful, and we could not have done it without everyone’s help! Every SAGA team member takes part in this annual event, and with several houses on the tour, it takes a ton of teamwork to get everything planned, coordinated and executed. This cooperative effort includes everyone from our administrative team, to our construction crew to our vendors, and we learn something new every year to make each year even better!

It’s a fun, worthwhile event and we love participating. For information on this year’s Parade of Homes tour, please visit www.obhomebuilders.org. To learn more about SAGA’s custom design-build process, visit our website or call 252-441-9003 today.
