ABOUT TANYA
Tanya shares “Born and raised in western Ukraine, at the age of 3 my art studies started by getting my hands on a sharpie and decorating my entire house walls with such “pretty” drawings. I knew I had a natural gift but I’m sure no one else felt that way at the time. I remember burying my head into coloring books, later the excitement of mixing colors and the joy of sliding a brush against the canvass. It always brought me peace. I continued to pursue art studies through most of grade school and my university years. I graduated with degree in Interior Design.
In my early 20’s, my aspirations, a passion to live in the US, and of course a little bit of luck brought me to a beautiful set of barrier islands of the coast of North Carolina called The Outer Banks. It’s here where my journey in America began and is still unwinding. Initially, not knowing more than a handful of English words, it was not easy figuring out my path. After a few jobs I was fortunate to find a career in Interior Design. For several years now I have been doing complete interior design and décor for luxury vacation homes. This takes up most of my time but I still try to remain engaged in my art whenever time allows.
As an interior designer my desire was to use original paintings. However, it was difficult to find pieces that would fit within budget, were the right size, and also matched my color scheme. I started using more and more prints and when I could not find the right artwork, I simply painted the “perfect” pieces in the evenings. A strong connection developed between my work as an interior designer and my love for painting. Now everyday I’m working on things I’m truly passionate about. I’m so thankful for all the great people I have met along my way that have cared for me and guided me.”
