This month’s employee feature is Victoria Jackson. Victoria is an integral part of our team and juggles many daily tasks including maintaining crucial vendor relationships.

Describe your role at SAGA:

Estimating & Procurement – Purchasing materials and hiring sub-contractors and vendors for our building projects

Best part of your job:

Meeting new vendors.

Tell us something interesting about yourself your coworkers probably don’t know:

I’ve owned two airplanes and one of them was “stolen” from Manteo Airport.

Favorite holiday:
4th of July and spending the day on the boat and watching fireworks before heading home.

Favorite color:

Green – especially the early spring green of new leaves when they burst back to life.

Favorite food:

All seafood.

First concert attended:

Bruce Springsteen.

Favorite thing to do outside:

I love to garden until about July when it gets too hot and I tell the plants its time to survive on your own.

Who inspires you:

Melinda Gates – just finished reading her book “The Moment of Lift” and it changed my opinion (if I even had one) of her and her work. It was well written and a powerful message.

Last book you read:

Atomic City Girls by Janet Beard. I read a book or two every week.

What are you passionate about:

Family – my two kids mean the world to me.  Followed closely by my two dogs and cats.

Favorite family tradition:

Eating fried chicken on the beach which recently changed to eating shrimp on the boat.

Where would you love to visit but haven’t been yet:

A cruise to anywhere but probably some place tropical; especially in January.

Do you have a special talent no one knows about:

Refinishing furniture – I love to take a beat up ugly piece and transform it to what it once was or to a new use.
