Types of Lighting
Make a list of the rooms in your home.  Then decide which mood for each room. For example-living rooms and bedrooms can be made comfortable with ambient or indirect lighting, which provides overall lighting to a room.

  •  Accent. This highlighting adds depth and dimension to the space ( think recessed adjustable fixtures and track lights.)
  • Decorative. The purpose of decorative lighting, such as chandeliers and sconces, is to add interest and “jazz up” a space.
  • Ambient. This gentle light fills the room and bounces off the ceiling. Soft, indirect lighting such as pendants.

Whichever mood you identify and fixture you choose, don’t forget about light bulb options and dimmers. Dimmers allow you to control the light quality in a room, and can cut your energy bills back.

While choosing your home lighting, don’t forget about your exterior lighting. It can be functional and fashionable! Lighting for walkways, sidewalks and by your outdoor entertaining areas provide ambience and safety.
