At last month’s Leisure Travel Summit in New York, a hot topic of conversation was the growing trend known as “multi-generational travel.” AAA Vice President, Bill Sutherland, referenced recent survey data indicating that 36% of American families will be travelling with multiple generations for vacations and family reunions. This trend is expected to grow with the aging Baby Boom generation and the emerging Gen X travelers as heads of households and planners. This brings us to a recent article in the June-July 2014 issue of Richmond, Virginia’s BOOMER magazine, “The Big Houses,” which highlights the growing trend of Outer Banks mega vacation rental homes. The President of SAGA Construction, Amit Gupta, was interviewed for this article and relayed the continued success and popularity of mega vacation homes built for their investor clientele.
