This Employee Spotlight we had the opportunity to learn a little more about Asset Manager Lauren Garrett. We appreciate Lauren’s passion and professionalism. She is a highly valued member of the SAGA Team.
Describe your role at SAGA Realty & Construction: As Asset Manager my role involves oversight of company owned properties. This involves financial analysis, operational delivery, and strategic planning. Properties range from one-bedroom condos to luxury event homes, commercial buildings, motels, and apartment complexes.
Best part of your job: My SAGA colleagues and business partners! Our team is the most talented and hard working on the beach. I also love that no two days are the same, the fast pace of the construction industry, and the opportunity to learn something new at every turn. I truly love real estate and find endless inspiration in the beautiful properties SAGA produces.
Tell us something interesting about yourself your coworkers probably don’t know: I grew up on a tobacco farm in southern Piedmont region of Virginia. Growing up on the farm we had nearly every barnyard animal you could imagine. While I didn’t spend any time pulling tobacco, I was in charge of caring for the animals including several goats and a miniature donkey!
Favorite holiday: I love spending the Christmas holiday with my family. Enjoying a delicious meal and spending time with my nieces and nephews makes this holiday so special.
Favorite color: Pink but green is a very close second!
Favorite food: Any type of fresh seafood, I love to check out new restaurants on the Outer Banks but Bad Bean and Coastal NC are my favorites.
First concert attended: Dwight Yoakum and Patty Lovelace.
Favorite thing to do outside: My favorite thing to do outside is horseback riding. I am a lifelong equestrian and spend as much time as possible at the barn with my horse Dexter. I also love to go to the beach, mostly in the fall.
Last book you read: “I’ll be Gone in the Dark” by Michelle McNamara. I love true crime!
What are you passionate about: My pets! I am an animal lover and have had many pets over the years. I have three cats, a dog, and a horse; all of whom are rescues.
Where would you love to visit but haven’t been yet: Australia and Japan.
Why did you choose to call the Outer Banks “home”? For love! I met my husband thirteen years ago and moved to the Outer Banks when we became engaged in 2010. The Outer Banks quickly grew on me and I can’t imagine a better place to call home.
What do you like most about the area or about living here?: While the beaches are beautiful, I have always admired the unique sense of community on the Outer Banks. The pace of life is relaxed and there’s a harmony with nature that is hard to find elsewhere. Fall on the Outer Banks is the very best, I love spending time outside on the beach, riding horses with friends, and enjoying local activities.
